Names. We all have various roles and different names which reflect the function we are operating in. As a mother, daughter, sister, friend, and more, I'm known as mom, Dee, girl, or Ms. Parrish. Depending on what name is used to summon me, determines how I respond to the call. At times my reaction or the eagerness to reply varies on the time of day, my mood, or the tone of the call. Lately, I've taken pleasure in putting my phone on do not disturb just so I can't hear any type of call. I am sure we all can relate.
Lately, I've been thinking about the names of Jesus. You see the names of Jesus help us understand who He is and how we call Him. For example, His name is Jehovah Jireh, which means, God our provider. So, when I am in need of God's provision, I call on Jehovah Jireh. He is also Jehovah Rophe, God our Healer. When I am sick, I call on Jehovah Rophe. Another name is Jehovah Shalom, God our Peace. When I am distressed, I call his name, Jehovah Shalom. He also has many names, Everlasting Father, Adonai, Prince of Peace, just to name a few. He is called on several times daily. unlike you and I, the Good News is...He will respond. Not occasionally, but He is ready to respond to every single call in the capacity of which we called Him.
I encourage you use the name of Jesus for every situation you encounter or currently find yourself in. I promise, He will respond. He's never in a do not disturb mode! Jesus is eager to hear from you and is waiting on you to call upon Him. Use His name, because there is power in His name - I'll save that for another post!
Have a beautiful day!
