I want to expand a little more on tools. I have a friend who comes and hangs pictures, mirrors, etc on my wall. Each time we plan for her to come, I have to remind her to bring her toolbox. One day, she came and I assumed she would bring her tools, but she didn't. She needed to hang a picture for me, but all I had was a screwdriver. So, I went and purchased the correct tool for the job - a hammer.
Often times we show up in a battle and we lose because we are fighting with the wrong tools. We use external measures in a battle that has to be fought internally. For example, using excessive alcohol, sex, drugs, sleep, anger, excessive shopping, etc... are external tools. Internal tools, begin with our hearts. Going back to the root of the issue. Taking inventory of your heart and identifying anything that does not line up with what God says about you - not forgiving, rejection, low self esteem, trust, anger, unworthiness, etc... You can't fight rejection with anger - anger is secondary. Giving those parts of our hearts to God allows Christ to heal us from the inside, which gives us victory in the external battle. The Good News Is...Christ already knows our hearts. When we go to him and acknowledge what he already knows, He will meet us where we are. He steps in and wherever he steps, there is healing. With that healing, comes freedom, joy and peace.
Have a beautiful day!
