Jesus’ death by crucifixion is commemorated on Good Friday. He was lied on, betrayed, arrested, forsaken, beaten, spat upon, slapped, pierced with a crown of thorns, mocked, pierced with a sword, and crucified for our sakes. He was buried in a tomb. But the Good News is “He is risen!” Mark 9:31, “For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day.” Jesus conquered and defeated death and the grave. He lives and because of Him we live! Because of Him, we can rise above our circumstances! We can rise above depression, addictions, slander, despair, and self-doubt.
Because He is risen, we never truly die but live forever with Him. His resurrection assures us of our resurrection. 1 Corinthians 15:53-55, “So, when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave where is thy victory? The grave had no victory over Jesus, and it has no victory over us as believers!
Because He lives, we not only have hope for the future, we have the ability to walk with Him today. We can live a life of hope, peace, and empowered by His Holy Spirit!
Have a blessed day.
